Iván Rivera: We are starting off 2010 with an exciting fight featuring two of the best, young, and undefeated prospects in boxing. Sonsona is known in Puerto Rico now after defeating then world champion Jose ‘Carita’ Lopez this past September. We know and believe that Vazquez Jr. can become champion. On February 27th he will get his opportunity to win the title in his hometown.

Vazquez Jr.: My example is my father and I’m very proud of him. I’m going to do everything I can to win this title. This is for my daughter. I have been training very hard for this since this past November and I’m very well prepared on all levels.

Vazquez Sr.: We will take advantage of this opportunity. Not only is my son going to win the title he is going to win the title by knockout.

Sonsona: This is going to be a very competetive fight without a doubt. However, I have come here to win and I’m coming to win by Knockout. There is no doubt in my mind, and I’m going to knock him out.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.
