Vazquez, Santos in Kissimmee!

Both fighters of the main event for the “Boxeo Telemundo” show of this Friday arrived fit and confident to the City of Kissimmee, FL. The first one to arrive was local idol Wilfredo Vazquez, Jr. (15-0-1, 12 KOs) who will defend his WBO Latin super bantamweight title against the toughest opponent in his young career when he faces veteran Cecilio “Boga” Santos (23-10-3, 13 KOs) in a clash scheduled for 12 rounds.

Vazquez Jr., of Bayamon, Puerto Rico said upon arrival: “it does not tickle me that he has fought for the world title 4 times and has hold numerous titles himself, I see it like a rock on my way that I have to break to move forward.” He also added “I will get him out of my way to win a world title, I prepared myself 150% and will win either way Friday.”

Santos of Mexico City, Mexico declared at his arrival: “I have been training for 2 months in the mountains and have had good sparring partners” he added “ I will take Vazquez title and his undefeated record away, I will knock him out, I have fought a lot of good fighters and a Jr is not going to scare me.”

A total of seven bouts are scheduled, doors open at 7:30 PM with the first bell at 8:30 PM. Tickets are now on sale from only $15.00 General Admission and $40.00 Ringside in advance at the Kissimmee Civic Center 201 E Dakin Ave., Kissimmee, FL and by calling (407) 935-1412.

The main event will be televised at 11:35 PM by the Telemundo Network.

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
