Orient and Pacific Boxing Federation cruiserweight champion Dominic Vea (12-2, 10 KOs) will clash with former WBO cruiserweight challenger Mohamed Azzaoui (25-5-2, 8 KOs) over twelve rounds for the vacant Commonwealth cruiserweight title at the Penrith Rugby League Club, Penrith, NSW, Australia on July 1st. Vea – who is a regular sparring partner of former WBA light heavyweight champion Danny Green – will start favorite to defeat the Algerian-born and New Zealand-based Azzaoui, who has been defeated in Australia by Jamie Withers and Alex Lepai.
Azzaoui was stopped in a WBO cruiserweight title attempt in 2007 by Enzo Maccarinelli in four rounds but won his last start in Auckland, New Zealand when he was awarded a seventh round disqualification win over Moyoyo Mensah of Ghana in 2009.
On the undercard former Australian middleweight champion Josh Clenshaw (28-17, 13 KOs) will punch it out with hot prospect Leroy Brown (6-1-1, 3 KOs) in a super middleweight eight.
Also in action will be classy Robert Medley (28-3, 18 KOs) – who has only lost to world champions Isaac Hlaytswayo and Anthony Mundine.
Big punching Filipino 140 pounder Ranee Ganoy (30-11-2, 26 KOs) will also be matched to fight on this show, as will 6’5 280lb MMA star Lucas Brown, who will have his second professional outing.
