Mexican middleweight Marco Antonio “Veneno” Rubio (57-6-1, 49 KOs) has wrapped up his preparations with trainer Robert Garcia in Oxnard, California, and will head to Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico, for his fight next Saturday at the Palenque de la Feria. Rubio will face Colombian Dionisio “Mr. Knockout” Miranda (22-8-2, 19 KOs) with a world title shot on the line. With a victory, “Veneno” will have the opportunity for a rematch with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. for the interim WBC middleweight world title. Chavez must also win his September 7 clash against Brian Vera in Los Angeles.
Also training with Rubio in Oxnard was middleweight Marcos “Dorado” Reyes (27-1, 22 KOs), who is looking to avenge his 2010 defeat against Argentinian Amilcar Funes (22-12, 17 KOs) on the same card.
The night will also feature Yessica “Kika” Chavez (18-3-2, 4 KOs) defending her WBC female silver light flyweight belt against Tsunami Tenkai (18-7, 7 KOs).
