In a much anticipated rematch, Orlando “Siri” Salido (34-10, 22 KOs) won the IBF featherweight belt by dethroning champion Cristóbal “Lacandón” Cruz (39-12-2, 23 KOs) via unanimous decision on Saturday night at the Tomás Oroz Gaytán Stadium in Ciudad Obregón, Sonora, Mexico.
Salido came out strong, dropping Cruz twice in round two. He also finished with a flourish, nearly stopping Cruz at the end.
The win avenged a 2008 split decision loss to Cruz in Airway Heights, Washington.
In other action, super featherweight Sergio Torres (14-1, 13 KOs) scored an impressive third round KO over Fernando García (12-3, 8 KOs).
