Former South African junior heavyweight champion Danie Venter scored a workmanlike six round points decision over Zimbabwean Elvis Moyo at the Pretoria North City Hall on Saturday night and stayed on track for his fight with Sean Cox for the WBF belt in September. Heavyweight Venter (98,52kg) boxed well within himself against an opponent who had a weight advantage of nearly 12kg, piling up the points with his educated left jab followed up by stiff right crosses to the head as he won a clear decision. Venter improved his record to 17-6; (12) and Moyo dropped to 3-4-2 (1).
In a junior heavyweight bout southpaw Kevin Lerena (90.62kg) made hard work of beating Khayeni Hlungwane (83.82kg) on a unanimous points decision over six rounds.
