Promoter Fausto Daniel Garcia has announced that WBC Jr Flyweight Champion Edgar Sosa will not be making his ninth title defense in the Mexican resort city of Veracruz — a change of venue — but the original date of the bout, June 20th, remains unchanged. Sosa will be meeting WBC #10 Carlos Melo of Panama. Garcia did not give explanations as why Veracruz was finally discarded but has declared that he will inform the public very shortly as the new location of the card. Another world title bout, the WBC Interim Super Flyweight champiomship, will also be held as veteran Tomas “Gusano” Rojas of Mexico will clash against prospect Ricardo Nunez of Panama. Also, another interesting evenly-matched bout will see Mexico’s Reyes Sanchez defend his WBC World Juvenile Lightweight title against KO artist Rene “Chirizo” Gonzalez of Nicaragua. Says promoter Garcia, “We have received various offers from different cities due to Edgar Sosa’s popularity with the fans in Mexico. The most important thing is that Edgar will fight on the originally selected date.”
