Vera-Mora rematch on August 11

Middleweights Brian Vera (20-6, 12 KOs) and Sergio “The Latin Snake” Mora (23-2-2, 7 KOs) meet for the second time on August 11 with the vacant NABO middleweight title on the line. The bout will be the main event of a TeleFutura telecast from the Illusions Theater at the Alamodome in San Antonio. In their first fight, Vera upset Mora taking a split decision. Both participated in the “Contender” reality show. Mora in 2005, Vera in 2007. Mora defeated Vernon Forrest in 2008 to win the WBC super welterweight world title, but promptly lost the belt in a rematch three months later. Vera is best known for his upset win over then-unbeaten Andy Lee.

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
