Verdejo returns May 18 on UniMas

Hot prospect Felix “Diamante” Verdejo will fight again in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, on May 18 when he faces Corben Page in a six round fight at the Ruben Zayas Coliseum in a new edition of the UniMas Solo Boxeo Tecate show, in a PR Best Boxing Promotions presentation in association with Top Rank. The 2012 Olympian, Diamante Verdejo (5-0, 4 KOs), who comes off a spectacular first round win by KO on April 13 in New York over Steve Gutierrez, will fight for the first time at six rounds against Page (4-5-1) headlining the card in the junior lightweight division.

We will present eight bouts in total on May 18 in Trujillo Alto.”

In a 10 round fight, Gamalier Rodriguez (20-2-3, 14 KOs) will face Alicio Castañeda (15-1, 6 KOs) in a junior lightweight clash.

Meanwhile, in a fight scheduled to six rounds, prospect John Karl Sosa (5-0, 4 KOs) will face versus a foe to be named in the junior welter division; also Trujillo Alto native Bernard “Bimbo” Lebron, who debuted with an impressive first round KO on March 23, will fight in a four round and 140 pounds scheduled fight.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
