Samoan born heavyweight Craig “King” Vitale (6-0, 3 KOs) outpointed Junior Maletino Lakopo (1-13-2, 0 KOs) in the main event six round bout on Friday at the Calabria Club, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Vitale controlled the contest in most of the rounds to have his hand raised by referee Alan McColl by scores 59-55, 59-55, 58-56. Vitale has been a big success on YouTube with his KO wins that has given over 500,000 hits. It was reported that former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson contacted Vitale’s manager to congratulate him on his KO wins and invited him to fight in the USA. Vitale is trained by Sam Brizzi and managed by Adam Willcock.
On the same card light middleweight Anthony Buttigieg (4-0, 1 KO) outpointed David Galvin (6-10-3, 2 KOs) over six by split decision 59-55, 59-55 and 56-59.
Also super middleweight Benjamin Harvie (1-2) outpointed Michael White (11-8, 3 KOs) over four rounds by scores 40-36, 38-37, 38-37.
In other action, super middleweight Alexander Don (4-0, 1 KO) defeated Kym Raynor (0-1) over four rounds by scores 40-37, 39-37, 39-37.
Light heavyweight Marcos Amado (3-0, 1 KO) outpointed Scott Tuddenham in a closely contested bout by split decision over four by scores 38-37, 38-37, 37-38.
Classy super featherweight Luke Jackson (5-0, 3 KOs) stopped Sam Rogers in round two of a scheduled four round bout. Jackson represented Australia at the London Olympics.
