Vitali says he’s not retiring

WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko has denied reports that he announced his retirement Monday at a press conference in Donetsk, Ukraine. “I am in the pre-election tour of Ukraine, so coming to the Donetsk region is not exactly in order to complete my career,” said Vitali on the Klitschkos’ Facebook page. “I’m a little bit tired of the question ‘when will it happen?’ I’ve repeatedly stated that when such a decision is made I’ll be sure to announce it at a separate press conference. And for now there is no talk about the end of my career. I’m sorry if I didn’t put enough emphasis on this at the news conference in Donetsk, which is quoted in the media.”

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
