According to his manager Jacques Deschamps, WBA featherweight champion Nicholas “The Axeman” Walters would be making his first title defense against WBA #4 Alberto “Kirchis” Garza (25-3-2, 20 KOs) of Mexico in April in Jamaica, the champion’s birthplace. In his 10 year career, the hard-punching Garza has garnered a slew of regional titles, the WBA featherweight Continental title, the WBC featherweight Silver title and the IBF Latino super featherweight title. He has won eight out his last nine fights and among his victims are Justin Savi (then 24-0), Nery Saguilan (24-1-1) and former contender Hiroyuki Enoki (28-3-2).
