It’s finally settled. WBA #1 contender Nicholas “Axeman” Walters (21-0, 17 KOs) of Jamaica will cross gloves with WBA #5 contender Daulis Prescott (26-1, 19 KOs) of Colombia on December 13th for the WBA featherweight title left vacant by Celestino Caballero. The title bout will take place in Kingston, Jamaica at the National Indoor Arena and it will be only the second time that the Panama-based Walters will be fighting in front of his home crowd. This event will mark the return of big time boxing to Jamaica and it will be the sixth title fight to be held in the Caribbean island. The card already being billed as “The Rumble on the Jamrock’ will televised by SportsMax, one of the main sponsors of the event.
Declared Walter’s manager Jacques Deschamps, “This will be an exciting bout between two young (both 26) men with very similar records, both of them hard punchers,both are well-kept secrets but are eager to make a name for themselves on the international boxing scene.”
Sponsors SportsMax have announced that they will take the opportunity provided by the event to honor former Jamaican boxing greats such as Glen Johnson, Mike McCallum, Uriah Grant, Simon Brown, the late Trevor Berbick-all of them former world champions.
