WBA#13 light-fly prospect Atsushi Kakutani (13-3-1, 6 KOs), 109.5, showed a fine form in polishing off Thailander Kaokarat Kaolarnlekgym (11-6, 3 KOs), 109.25, with a flurry of punches at 3:08 of the opening session in a scheduled ten on Sunday in Osaka, Japan.
The lanky upright speedster Kakutani, who had entered the WBA’s top fifteen thanks to his upset victory over world-rated Filipino Rey Loreto last November, positively started fireworks and caught the Thai youngster with vicious combinations to the face. He pinned Kaokarat to the ropes and lopsidedly battered him with solid shots with precision, dropping him flat for the count. The JBC staff carried a stretcher to carry him out of the ring, but the loser managed to pull himself up and walked out by himself. Kakutani, handled by ex-Orient 154-poun champ Hideo Kanazawa, is gunning for a shot at either the national or the OPBF 108-pound belt.
