The 92nd annual WBA convention will kick off one week from today on Monday, October 14 in Lima, Peru. Organizers are putting the finishing touches on the event, including arranging for the attendance of several WBA champs, past and present. Expected to attend are Ryo Miyazaki, Yessica Bopp, Libiorio Solis, Danny Garcia, as well as Peru’s two current WBA champions Kina Malpartida and Alberto Rossel. A special pair of guests will also be celebrated as former WBA lightweight champion Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini and Peruvian challenger Orlando Romero will mark the thirtieth anniversary of their epic battle at Madison Square Garden, a give and take war, won by Mancini via ninth round knock out. Don King, Akihiko Honda and Gary Shaw are expected to be among the name boxing promoters on hand as well. The host hotel will be Los Delfines Hotel and Casino.
