Don King announced today in Panama City that the Panamanain WBA cruiserweight world champion Guillermo Jones (38-3-2, 30 KOs) will conduct an optional defense against American Andre Taylor (21-2-2, 8 KOs) on October 27 in Venezuela. Initially Jones was to have faced interim WBA champion Dennis Lebedev, but King met Lebedev representatives in Panama and made an agreement to do Jones-Lebedev after this fight.
Apparently the WBA and King have agreements with the Government of Panama and the Government of Venezuela to do boxing events. King met with Panama President Ricardo Martinelli and also had praise for the newly elected Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.
