WBA to review Moreno-Cermeño

By Gabriel F. Cordero
WBA vice president, Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, in spite of the possibility of being criticized for being a Venezuelan living in Panama, stated, “I have to give my personal opinion of what happened and it seemed like an error to me, because I saw the winner as Cermeño.” He assured that the WBA Board of Directors will do an exhaustive review of the video of Panamanian Anselmo “Chemito” Moreno’s controversial split decision over Venezuelan Nehomar Cermeño on Saturday night at the Polideportivo José María Vargas in La Guaira, Venezuela, to determine the feasibility of a direct rematch. Mendoza Jr. had complimentary words for both fighters and said he would abstain from voting, letting the other board members make any decisions.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
