Possibilities exist that the upcoming fight between Juan Manuel Marquez and Juan Diaz could be for the WBO lightweight world title. That title (along with the IBF version) became vacant after reigning champion Nate Campbell couldn’t make weight for Saturday’s bout against IBF mandatory Ali Funeka. Golden Boy Promotions has contacted the WBO to explore options for sanctioning the February 28 clash in Houston.
