The final major boxing convention of 2013 will take place next week as the WBC’s 51st annual convention convenes in Bangkok, Thailand. There will be one major twist this year after fifty years of consistency- WBC president Jose Sulaiman will miss his first world annual convention since joining the WBC in 1968. He started as an advisor and legal counsel to the WBC to eventually serve as General Secretary until December 5, 1975 when he was elected President in Tunisia, North Africa .
The WBC has been his entire life, putting aside his businesses, family and hobbies, becoming dedicated completely with passion to make this organization what it is today . From 23 countries affiliated in 1975 to the current 165, from 28 delegates attending the Tunisia convention to the estimated 2000 present during the last world convention in Cancun, Mexico.
His greatest pride is to see that the WBC is a solid institution, formed by the affiliation of 10 Continental Federations, whose activities around the world have changed the sport of boxing in the last 50 years, making it better and safer . The Supreme Council is formed by the presidents of those Federations, which are:
African Boxing Union (ABU) Houcine Houchi- son of Taieb Houchi, original founder of the WBC
Asian Boxing Council (ABCO) General Kovid Bhakdibumi- a Senator in Thailand.
British Boxing Board of Control (BBBC) Charlie Giles- Chairman of the governing body of boxing in the UK
Caribbean Boxing Federation (CABOFE) Peter Abdool- a respectable dignitary from Guyana overseeing boxing in the Caribbean islands
Central America Boxing Federation (FECARBOX) Alberto Guerra- a respectable counselor responsible for boxing in Central America
CIS and Slovenia Boxing Board (CIISB) Miroslav Popovic- controlling the activity in the Russian countries

Orient and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) Ken Morita one of the senior officials of boxing with great honor in the Orient
South American Boxing Federation (FESUBOX) Carlos Rodriguez the boxing authority of all southern hemisphere.
The WBC is also formed by a Board of Governors which is made up with the Supreme Council and 25 other boxing commissioners from around the world. There is also an Executive Committee which is formed by all chairmen of the many different committees which work diligently year around to execute the yearly program, which is precisely prepared during the annual conventions. Some committees are :

There are many important topics which will be discussed and presented during the working sessions which will take place from november 3-9.
