WBC Board of Governors to decide what will happen in the heavyweight division with Vitali out

The WBC made a long series of tweets regarding their position on the Vitali Klitschko situation:

Vitali Klitschko is injured of his right fist and he might return to fight early next year

They then tweeted a statement of Vitali Klitschko:

Being the #WBC heavyweight champion is the dream of my life , is an honor to hold the same belt as Tyson and the greatest Ali…I’m very proud to be part of the WBC, boxing has the power to change the world…My brother might have many belts, but I have the best of all…I’m afraid to fight my brother, not because he’s my brother but because of my mom…I had a dream as small boy, I got inspired by Mike Tyson, once I told my friends I was going to defeat him and conquer the WBC belt.

Finally another WBC comment on Vitali:

Vitali is not dodging anyone that is why he came to talk with our president, his fist is injured and [he] won’t be able to fight until next year, meanwhile the Board of Governors will decide what will happen with the division while he’s unable to fight…Different scenarios are addressed by Article III of the WBC rules and regulations, please visit the website for further information.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
