WBC executive secretary Mauricio Sulaiman informed Fightnews.com that the WBC has ordered free negotiations to commence for a final elimination bout between Erislandy Lara and Vanes Martyrosian to determine the mandatory challenger for current WBC super welterweight champion Mexican Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. If there is no agreemnet between the parties, a purse bid will be held on July 27 at WBC Headquarters in Mexico City. “Both boxers have claimed in the media and in public their desire for a world title shot. Now the WBC has made an official decision. Now we’re waiting for the promoters to do the fight. It`s a great fight and we think it’s not a problem to do this fight,” said Sulaiman.
