WBC denies that Bailey won WBC Intl title

By Boxing Bob Newman

WBC International championship chairman Mauro Betti has rejected claims from the camp of former world champion Randall “KO King” Bailey that Bailey won the vacant WBC International welterweight belt with his win over Humberto Toledo last Saturday night in Tampa, Florida.

“I hereby confirm that this WBC Committee has NEVER received any specific application and no sanction fee was paid to the WBC for this fight,” Betti told Fightnews.com. “Therefore, I hereby confirm that Randall Bailey is NOT the current WBC International Welterweight champion. The vacant championship will take place in Africa in one month’s time.”

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
