WBC orders Mayol-Niño rematch

The World Boxing Council put to the vote of the WBC Board of Governors, the written appeal submitted by Hector Garcia, representative to Omar Niño, for a final and definitive resolution. The World Boxing Council has unanimously voted to ratify the decision announced last Saturday February 27th, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, being the result of the bout a technical draw and ordering a direct and immediate rematch between Rodel Mayol and Omar Niño.

WBC has officially notified both Rodel Mayol and Omar Niño that they have a deadline of 5 days to submit a written confirmation of their participation in this fight.

If Rodel Mayol declines to directly fight Omar Niño, the title will be declared vacant. If Omar Niño declines to fight Rodel Mayol in a rematch, the World Boxing Council will name a substitute fighter in accordance with the World Boxing Council Rules and Regulations.

Likewise, the WBC Disciplinary Committee has been appointed to investigate the facts that took place between Rodel Mayol’s trainer and the photographer, to be able to determine what happened and clarify any situation that is out of the context of the sport and that affected anybody who was present.
