We’ve just received information that the WBC has asked the promoters and participants of the WBC World Cup Tournament to postpone the inauguration of the tournament as a sign of respect and solidarity for WBC President Jose Sulaiman and his current medical condition as he recovers from his recent heart surgery. Sulaiman worked tirelessly for several years to put together the World Cup, which brings together the champions of all WBC-affiliated federations with the winner to become a challenger of the reigning world champion. The postponement will allow Sulaiman to be involved in all the activities involving the tournament. The 82-year-old longtime WBC President is presently recovering at the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.
