WBO light flyweight champion Iván ‘Iron Boy’ Calderón (33-0-1, 6 KOs) and WBO junior featherweight champion Juan Manuel ‘Juanma’ López (27-0, 24 KOs) received honorary rings by the World Boxing Organzation today in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. The site of the event was the Museo del Deporte de Puerto Rico. Both Calderón and López received the rings for each successfully defending their titles five times. Calderon is now a two time ring achiever as he accomplished the same feat as the WBO champion at 105 pounds. Accompanying the fighters were their promoter PR Best Boxing (Iván & Peter Rivera) who also received an honorary plaque for their promotional successes, accomplishments, and being a positive example as a promoter. Also in attendance was former world champion Felix ‘Tito’ Trinidad. WBO President Francisco ‘Paco’ Valcárcel presented the rings to the fighters.

Valcárcel – “Calderon and Lopez are both great champions of Puerto Rico and the world. We honor them both with these rings which not only have economic value but great sentimental value to both of them.”
Calderón- “I am quite happy with this honor because you achieve it based on the work you have done. My entire team worked hard for this achievement. I have done something no boxer has been able to do in earning two rings in two different divisions. Now its time to prepare for my third ring at 112 pounds.”
López- “This is a dream come true for me. I feel really proud of this achievement. Paco, remember this as I tell you: I will be champion in at least four weight divisions so you can go ahead and prepare three more rings.”
