The official weights are in for the heavyweight showdown in New Zealand tonight. Shane Cameron (28-2, 21 KOs) weighed in at 206 pounds and former world title challenger Monte Barrett (35-9-2, 20 KOs) scaled in at 218.5 pounds. The bout will take place Sky City Convention Centre, Auckland, New Zealand. Barrett will look to successfully defend his WBO Asia Pacific and Oriental titles he won in his last bout where he beat former world title challenger David Tua in New Zealand. The bout was a rematch of their draw the previous year. Cameron was crushed inside of two rounds by Tua back in 2009 and now looks to do something Tua failed to do, beat Barrett.
Side note: The very popular former NFL veteran/comedian, and worldwide sports broadcaster Benny Ricardo provided the weights. Ricardo stated that Barrett appeared to be in excellent physical condition and that Cameron and had been sparring with former world champion David Haye in preparation for Barrett.
