West wins in Ogden, remains undefeated

Cruiserweight Jesse West, of Fruit Heights, Utah, is now 3-0 after scoring a four round decision over Mesquite, Nev.’s Elmer Rivera Saturday night in Ogden, Utah, at the Summit Hotel. Before a standing-room only crowd, West, a former Golden Gloves heavyweight champ, held off a constantly charging Rivera by finding enough opportunities to outbox his opponent and score solid punches. The decision was unanimous.

In a battle of Salt Lake City lightweights, Francisco Jelel Lopez scored a four-round unanimous decision over Lee Tibbitts. The bout was competitive, but the harder-punching Lopez had a consistent edge.

In a preliminary fight, junior lightweight Isaac Aguilar used an advantage in speed to take a four-round win over Suanito Hogue. Both boxers are from Salt Lake City.

The card included amateur bouts. Promoters Total Mayhem and All Heart Boxing Foundation plan future cards in February and May.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
