Wilson vs Lepai!

By Ray Wheatley — World of Boxing

Former Australian heavyweight champion, Colin Wilson (34-24-1, 20 KOs) and Australian based Samoan Alex Lepai (15-3-2,11 KOs) will clash over twelve rounds at Southport RSL, Southport, Queensland, Australia on Friday. Wilson outscored Lepai, 29 years, in 2008 via a split decision. Wilson has been in the ring with world class heavyweights like Shane Cameron in 2005, Kali Meehan in 2002, Corrie Sanders in 2006 and Oleg Platov in 2007. Lepai is trained and managed by Noel Thornberry who has guided several boxers into world title bouts including his brother, Ricky, who took Joe Calzaghe and Sven Ottke the twelve round distance. In a supporting bout, former Australian light heavyweight champion, Les Sherrington (22-5,14 KOs) will punch it out with veteran Glen Fitzpatrick (15-13-2,6 KOs) over six. The promoter is Jamie Myer. This bout is televised throughout Australia on Foxtel cable television network.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
