The much anticipated rematch between Krzysztof Wlodarczyk and Giacobe Fragomeni will take place on May 15th in Lodz, Poland. Wlodarczyk – Fragomeni II will be the richest boxing event ever staged in Poland. This very important clash for both fighters will take place in the same venue as the “Polish Fight of the Century” between Tomasz Adamek and Andrew Golota. Wlodarczyk’s promoter Andrew Wasilewski did not want to take a risk again with going to Italy for the second time and won purse bid with an offer of $616,000. The budget of whole event is expected to exceed one million dollars and the card will be filled with other top polish fighters like WBC #4 rated light heavyweight Dawid Kostecki and former youth WBC light middleweight champion Damian Jonak. Tickets are already on sale.
When the powerful Pole and Italian veteran met for the first time in Rome last year, it was voted by the WBC as one of the most exciting fights of 2009. The fight ended in a highly controversial draw after Wlodarczyk dropped Fragomeni twice in the ninth round but referee Ian John-Lewis refused to count out the Italian when he was floored for second time in the round due to a late hit by Wlodarczyk. Fragomeni was given time to recover and made it through the final bell.
