WBC cruiserweight champion Krzysztof “Diablo” Wlodarczyk (46-2, 33 KO) at 199 pounds was surprisingly heavier than #1 WBC challenger Francisco “The Wizard” Palacios (195 pounds) during Fridays weigh-in in “Hala Stulecia” in Wroclaw, Poland. It was the first time for both fighters met because Team Wlodarczyk decided against their fighter’s participation in press conferences in Warsaw and Wroclaw. Some observers were expecting some fireworks from the always flamboyant and expressive Palacios but he was calm and collected. Palacios decided to wear “Grant” punchers gloves and Wlodarczyk opted for more all-around “Everlast” gear. Saturday’s WBC cruiserweight championship will implement the open scoring system with scores being announced after the fourth and eighth round.
