“I hope that this long period without a fight, 10 months, will be the last one without a bout in my career. From now on, after Palacios, I hope to fight more often,” said WBC cruiserweight titleholder Krzysztof “Diablo” Wlodarczyk (46-2, 33 KO) after his first public appearance before his September 22 title defense against Francisco “Wizard” Palacios (21-1, 13 KO) at the “Hala Stulecia” in Wroclaw, Poland.

Palacios hopes that his Polish rival will let his fists fly and give him opening to hit him back with faster punches, but “Diablo” is confident about his chances. “We will see about that” said Wlodarczyk, who decided to skip all press conferences to be in top mental and physical shape against the very confident, #1 WBC ranked Palacios.

“I would like to say thank you to Krzysztof for keeping WBC belt for me so nice and shiny. Starting Sunday, the WBC belt will be my responsibility” – said “The Wizard”, who hopes to confuse champion with his overall speed and creativity between the lines.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
