WBA rated #6 in the featherweight division, Satoshi Hosono (23-2, 17 KOs) will become Chris “The Dragon” John’s 5th opponent from Japan on April 14 at Indoor Tennis Stadium, Jakarta, Indonesia. For John (48-0, 22 KOs), this will be his 20th consecutive title defense of the division since 2003 and he will surpass Panama’s WBA featherweight champion Eusobio Pedrosa’s record of 19 consecutive title defenses (1978-1985).
In the co-main feature, John’s countryman Daud Cino Yordan (30-2, 23 KOs), will defend his IBO featherweight title for the second time against the former IBO bantamweight champion Simpeve Vetyeka (24-2, 14 KOs) of South Africa. Yordan obtained the vacant belt by defeating Lorenzo Villanueva by TKO in the second round at Singapore in May 2012, and made his first title defense by decisioning Choi Tseveenpurev in September 2012, also in Singapore.
