At today’s final press conference for Saturday’s HBO televised fight between the two fighters that no one wants to fight, Winky Wright and Paul Williams, there was more talk between the promoters and the respective fighters trainers. Richard Schaefer from Golden Boy Promotions started the press conference off by saying that he believes the odds on the fight should be a pick-em fight and not as listed in the sports book (Williams is the favorite at -200 and Wright is at +170). He said that respect should be shown to the two fighters that no one wants to face and that this should be a great night of boxing.

Schaefer then introduced one of the Golden Boy partners, Sugar Shane Mosley who fought and lost to Wright twice. Mosley said that he is excited about this fight and that someday he might even fight Williams. He believes that this is a great match-up and that he’s happy to be sitting ringside and watching this fight.

Then Dan Goossen, the promoter of Williams and Arreola took the mike. Goossen said that great fighters are willing to fight anyone and that is what these four fighters are. He went on to say that McCline is a very dangerous fight for Arreola. That he should have won at least two of his four title shots. He then introduced McCline’s new trainer Stacy McKinley.

McKinley said that he has watched Arreola and that he is a good fighter but that he has not stepped up and gone the twelve round distance while tasting his won blood. He went on to say that he was brought in only six weeks ago but he found out right away that McCline is a tireless worker and a great talent.

Goossen then introduced Arreola’s trainer, Henry Ramirez who said that Chris has taken this fight very serious and that they have had a great training camp. That they have great respect for McCline but that they do expect to win.

Jameel McCline: I’m excited to be on this card. I was basically retired because I was kinda fed up with everything that has happened around the boxing game and I was making more money with my other ventures then I was from boxing when I got the call for this fight. I got hungry again. I am big, strong, have a great chin and I am just looking forward to Saturday Night.

Chris Arreola: It is a pleasure to be here. Jameel is a beast but then again, so am I. He has the experience over me having fought for the heavyweight title on four occasions but I had 130 amateur fights so I know how to adapt. I had great sparring for this fight so I am ready for Saturday night.

George Peterson, Trainer, Paul Williams: We are prepared to win and we will not lose. The fans will say that they went to a boxing match and a fight broke out and we are ready to fight if necessary.

Dan Birmingham, Trainer Winky Wright: Winky has totally rededicated himself and he is more then ready for this fight and he will win this fight.

Paul Williams: I am real excited to be back at Mandalay Bay fighting a great champion like Winky Wright. We have both trained very hard for this fight and I know he will come right at me. I will work right along with him. I have trained 4 months for him and keep in mind that the old dogs cannot run with the young dogs.

Winky Wright: I just want to thank everyone who came out for this. The entire Williams team have been great to work with. We have both trained very hard for this fight and I will do my talking in the ring on Saturday Night.
