A press conference was held today for Saturday’s PPV twinbill featuring former WBO super bantamweight champion Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. (21-2-1, 18 KOs) and WBO #3 contender Jonathan “Polvo” Oquendo (22-2, 15 KOs) and WBO minimumweight champion Moises Fuentes (15-1, 7 KOs) defending for the second time against former titlist Ivan “Iron Boy” Calderon (35-2-1, 6 KOs) to be held at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.

“You (Oquendo) are facing for the first time a fighter like me, a fighter of my level. Oquendo is not a fighter of (Rafael) Marquez’s level, but I’m going to fight him”, Vazquez Jr. said about Rafael Marquez, who was going to face him on August 4 and October 6. “My job is to train and facing the best fighters and I’m going to win this Saturday to go for another chance for the world title, and after that the 126lb division.”

Oquendo said “I’m very good, I’m in a good shape and condition for this fight. I’m very focused for Vazquez Jr. I want to become a world champion. I’m hungry for this fight.”

Calderon thanked Fuentes for the opportunity and said “everyone says that I’m old, but look at Maravilla Martinez against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. I’m very well trained and ready to win this title again.”

Fuentes stated, “I don’t underestimate Ivan Calderon because they say that he is old. I can’t think he is old, he is a former champion and a legend, so I train hard for this fight, to keep my title.”

Meanwhile, the #4 WBO lightweight ranked Jose “Chelo” Gonzalez (20-0, 15 KOs) will defend his WBO Latino lightweight title against Colombian Oscar Cuero (15-8, 12 KOs), in a bout scheduled for 10 rounds.

In the heavyweight division, former Olympian Víctor Bisbal (20-1, 14 KOs), will fight against Alex González (20-7, 10 KOs), scheduled for eight rounds.

In six rounds fights, Camilo Perez (7-0, 4 KOs) will face Juan G. Cruz (5-11-2, 1 KOs) in the superbatnamweights; Israel “El Heredero” Vazquez (6-0-2, 5 KOs) will fight against Erickson Martell (10-4-1, 8 KOs) in the junior flyweights; Rafael “El Pollo Blanco” Gonzalez (7-1, 6 KOs) will face William Lorenzo (2-11) in the lightweights.

And scheduled to four rounds, John Karl Sosa (3-0, 3 KOs) will face Jonathan García (3-3, 1 KOs).
