Japanese footworker Akira Yaegashi successfully kept his WBC flyweight belt as he kept outlegging and outspeeding top contender and ex-WBC 108-pound champ Edgar Sosa, Mexico, winning a unanimous decision (117-111 twice and 116-112) over twelve fast rounds on Friday in Tokyo, Japan.
On the undercard, former Olympic gold medalist in London, Japanese middleweight Ryota Murata had a tough time with a durable US journeyman Dave Peterson, but finally stopped him at 1:20 of the eighth and final session.
Unbeaten 108-pound sensation Naoya Inoue, in his fifth pro bout, acquired the vacant OPBF light-fly belt by halting Filipino Jerson Mancio at 2:51 of the fifth session in a scheduled twelve.
