Young talent showcased

By Pepe Rodriguez/WBC

After six weeks of intense physical training, Jose “Sugar” Salgado, Andres “Jaguar” Gutierrez and Jesus “Negrito” Silvestre are ready for their next fight on August 6 in Navojoa, Sonora, Mexico. These outstanding young people, represented by Canelo Promotions, are almost ready to face their rivals at The Mayo Forum of Navojoa, under the International Boxing Festival. Salgado (25-1, 22 KOs), from Cozumel is one of Mexico’s most spectacular fighters, who wants to keep adding wins for an early WBC world crown opportunity.

For his part, “The Jaguar” (19-0, 16 KOs) gives no advantage to opponent Jose Carmona, from Colombia. Gutierrez-Carmona will surely be a great battle in the featherweight division.

While “El Negrito” (21-2, 17 KOs), strives to work hard, because his opponent, Walter Rojas, is a dangerous puncher from Argentina.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
