Dropping his foe in the second and finishing him at 1:32 of the tenth and final round, jr. middleweight Joaquin Zamora (18-2-1, 12 KOs) won by TKO over Tucson’s Joshua Renteria (15-3, 9 KOs), tonight at the Sky City Casino in Acoma, N.M., on the “Unstoppable card promoted by Romero Promotions. In the co-main, Mexican featherweight Salvador Sanchez (12-3-2, 6 KOs) weathered an early round knockdown to dominate Juarez’s Salvador Zamora (3-2, 2 KOs) through six rounds, winning with scores of 59-56 x 3. On the undercard: Unbeaten Albuquerque bantam David Proa (6-0, 6 KOs) kept his record clean with a second round kayo over debuter Sergio Savadrar (0-1), of Tucson. The end came at 1:12 of the second, after three knockdowns. At super bantamweight, Tucson’s Isaac Hidalgo (4-4, 1 KO) scored a local upset by shutting out James Piar (3-1, 2 KOs), of Albuquerque, scores of 40-36 x 3. At jr. middle, Carlos “El Gallo” Sanchez (3-0), of Albuquerque, scored a big, local upset with a four-round unanimous decision over amateur standout Arturo “Toro” Crespin (2-1, 1 KO), of Las Vegas. Scores were 39-37 x 3. In the opening bout, featherweight Randy “Savage” Arrellin (1-1), of Albuquerque, got back on track with a decision win over tough Carlos Luque (0-3), of Tucson, Ariz. Scores were 40-35 x 2 and 39-36.
