IBF #6 lightweight Lenny Zappavigna (27-2, 18 KOs) outscored Joel Dela Cruz (17-14-2, 13 KOs) of the Philippines over twelve rounds on Saturday at the Orange Function Centre, Orange, NSW, Australia. This was Zappavigna’s second successful bout since suffering a stoppage loss to Ammeth Diaz in August 2011. Zappa was unsuccessful in a IBF world title attempt against champion Miguel Vasquez in March 2011. Filipino Dela Cruz is trained by former Manny Pacquiao opponent Todd Makelin and was coming off a loss to Todd Kid but holds a 2011 win over 2004 Olympian Ryan Langham. In the main supporting bout, heavy-handed 168 pounder Rocky Jerkic (5-0, 3 KOs) stopped Daniel Maxwell ( 0-5) in round one.
