IBF #9 welterweight Jan Zaveck (27-1, 15 KOs) scored a “Rocky-like” twelfth round stoppage of Jorge Daniel Miranda (32-7, 12 KOs) in front of a sold out crowd of 5,000 on Friday night at the Tabor Arena in Maribor, Slovenia. The fight featured good two-way action throughout, with Zaveck scoring the storybook finish just moments before the final bell. Referee Juergen Langos waved it off after Miranda went to the canvas. It was the second meeting between the two fighters, after their 2007 match ended in a no contest at the same arena. SES Boxing is hoping this impressive win will springboard Zaveck in the rankings.
In other action, on the SES Boxing card unbeaten WIBF super featherweight Ramona Kuehne (14-0, 3 KOs) outpointed Galina Gumliiska (8-18, 1 KO) over ten rounds. Gumliiska was approved as a world title challenger despite coming in with seven straight losses.
In other action middleweight Marco Schulze (28-4-1, 15 KOs) stopped Krisztian Erdei (0-2) in round three, cruiserweight Denis Simcic (20-1, 10 KOs) outpointed Krisztian Jaksi (3-9-4) over six, and middleweight Vedran Akrap (13-7, 6 KOs) added another loss to the record of Gabor Balogh, who now stands at 1-51-5.
