Zbikowski confirms return

Baltimore Ravens safety Tommy Zbikowski (1-0, 1 KO) confirmed today that he will fight in the opening televised fight on the March 12 Cotto-Mayorga pay-per-view extravaganza at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Zbikowski is preparing for the fight with trainer Orlando Cuellar in Miami. Promoter Bob Arum said Top Rank will keep Zbikowski busy as long as he is available (meaning not playing football while a new collective bargaining agreement is being negotiated by the NFL and the NFL Players Association). Zbikowski was an amateur star before becoming an All-American football player at Notre Dame University. He had one pro fight before joining the NFL.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
