WBC #5 super welterweight contender Willie “The Great” Nelson (23-1-1, 13 KOs) scored a ten round unanimous decision over Luis Grajeda (17-3-2, 13 KOs) on Friday night outdoors at the Churchill County Fairgrounds in Fallon, Nevada. Nelson won by scores of 98-92 on all cards, but Grajeda staggered him in rounds three and eight.
Super middleweight Jason “Monstruo” Escalera (15-2-1, 12 KOs) scored an eight round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Norbert Nemesapati (14-1, 13 KOs). Nemesapati rocked Escalera in round one, but Escalera stormd back to batter Nemesapati in round two. Escalera dropped Nemesapati in round three and went on to win by scores of 78-73, 78-72, 79-72.
In his pro debut, 2008 Olympic silver medalist Zhang Zhilei needed just 17 seconds to KO badly outgunned Curtis Lee Tate (6-5, 6 KOs). The 31-year-old Zhilei moves to 1-0, 1 KO after his brief pro debut. The KO punch was a straight left to the shoulder of Tate.
