Promoter Liu Gang said, “We are very happy that Zhong has won the IBF Pan Pacific title. I want Zhong to challenge for the IBF jr flyweight world title in 2011. He was unlucky when he challenged for the WBC flyweight title in 2009 when he lost a close points decison in Japan to Daisuke Nato whom he dropped in round six. Zhong is now boxing in a lighter division and training with American coach Abraham Darwish of Miami and he has done a great job in improving him. I want to invite IBF President Daryl Peoples to China in 2011.”
In the main supporting lightweight bout, female star Chika Mizutani (9-2, 3 KOs) of Japan scored a crowd pleasing ten round split decison over Shen Dan Yue (1-3-1) of China. Yue outboxed the four inch taller opponent in the early rounds as she connected consistently with over hand rights and left hook combinations but the Japanese girl picked up the tempo and dropped Yue in round six and outworked Chinese girl in the final rounds. Scores 98-93, 96-93 and 95-96.
In a featherweight contest Jonathan Ba-at (16-3-2, 8 KOs) of the Philippines won a close points decision over Xu Cong Liang (8-2, 3 KOs) of China in an action-packed ten round contest. Scores were 95-94, 97-96, 99-92.
In a super featherweight contest Xia Yu Qin (8-4-2, 1 KO) won a clear eight round decision ovewr Nam-Joon Lee (4-2-2, 1 KO) of Korea.
