Two-time Olympic gold medalist and three-time world amateur champion Zou Shiming worked out with trainer Freddie Roach Wednesday night at the Venetian Macau Resort in Macau, China. Shiming will make his pro debut against Eleazar Valenzuela of Mexico on Saturday. The historic world championship boxing event will be televised to the U.S. on Saturday beginning at 2:00 p.m. ET/PT on HBO2.
Roach said his goal is to have Zou fight for world title by his 6th fight to break Leon Spinks’ record. However if Roach wants Zou to break the record of winning a world championship the fastest, he will have to accelerate the timetable. Thailand’s legendary Veeraphol Sahaprom won the WBA bantamweight championship in only his fourth fight.
