Saturday night at the Davis Conference Center in Layton, Utah, heavyweight veteran Billy Zumbrun and Damien Wills fight in separate bouts. Zumbrun, 26-13-1, faces Las Vegas boxer Henry Namauu, 10-6, in a bout CCC Promotions is advertising as for the Utah heavyweight championship. Former contender Wills, 30-3-1, inactive for two years, meets journeyman Dante Craig, 20-15-1. The rest of the card is comprised of six prospects in separate bouts. Two Utahns, super-featherweight Jose Haro, 7-0, of Salt Lake City, and cruiserweight, Jesse West, 1-0, of Fruit Heights, are touted as the future of Utah boxing by promoter Tracy Spinks. Haro faces Eduardo Guillen, 1-2, of Mexico, and West fights Keith Busch, 1-1, of Arizona.
The other bouts include pro prospects from eastern Europe who have come to Layton to gain experience. They are: Uzbekistan’s Bahodir Mamadjonov, 13-1, versus Rynell Griffin, 7-16-2, lightweights. Russia’s Fedor Papazov, 12-0, versus veteran John Willoughby, 3-21,lightweights. Russia’s Evgeny Churakov, 5-0, meets Wilbert Mitchell, 1-8, lightweights. And Lithuania’s Egidijus Kavaliauakas, 2-0, fights Jason Thompson, 0-2,welterweights. The card starts at 7 p.m. The doors open at 6. Tickets are available at SmithTix.
