The
Contender: Episode 7 Recap!
October 24, 2007
By Matt
Richardson
In just 67 seconds, Jaidon Codrington ended Wayne Johnsen's hopes of winning
the third season of "The Contender," knocking him out with a
single right hand down the middle in the first round of a scheduled eight
on Tuesday night's episode on ESPN.
The fight was barely a minute old when Codrington landed a short hard
right that discombobulated his opponent, dropping him to the canvas. Johnsen
rose at the count of nine but was clearly in no shape to continue. He
stepped forward to continue but the referee gave him a quick shove and
realized his balance was off; calling a halt to the semi-final fight less
than two minutes in.
With the win Codrington moves on to the finals, facing the winner of the
Sakio Bika-Sam Soliman rematch at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, MA
on Tuesday, November 6.
Johnsen, just 1-1 in the tournament, now goes home.
The results of all the fights in the tournament to date are as follows:
