When Mike Tyson serves his 1 day prison sentence on Tuesday, he will be incarcerated in Tent City, an infamous jail near a dog pound and trash dump in Arizona's Maricopa County. Sheriff Joe Arpaio told reporters that Tyson will wear the standard issue pink underwear and a black and white striped uniform, and will be segregated from the prison's other 1,500 inmates. Coincidentally, in 1999 Tyson visited Tent City's juvenile section and encouraged the youths to stay out of trouble. Prior to sentencing, Tyson's famed attorney David Chesnoff told Judge Helene Abrams that his client had taken 29 drug tests without a relapse since his December 2006 arrest and that he's attended Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings. He also stated that Tyson had become an example of how one overcomes problems with drugs, a violent past and poor upbringing. Tyson's ex-wife Monica Turner and several employees from the California drug clinic (where Tyson received treatment) were in the court to offer their support. Tyson's 1 day jail sentence is the punishment for his DUI charge. He also received 3 years of probation for the cocaine charge and will also have to pay a $3,600 fine, submit to drug testing and serve 360 hours of community service. Upon leaving the courthouse, the 41 year old Tyson did not speak a word to reporters. He lit a cigar and drove away in the back of a black Mercedes Benz.
