Mundine to face Hamdan! Thursday, December 20 2007 By Ray Wheatley -- World of Boxing WBA super middleweight champion Anthony Mundine (30-3, 23 KOs) will defend the title against fellow Australian Nader Hamdan (40-5, 18 KOs) on February 27 at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, Sydney, NSW, Australia. "I wouldn't take a fight if I thought he was going to be another easy opponent," Mundine said, adding that he believed he was on his way to becoming the "superstar" of boxing. "He's fought the best and beat the best in Australia. He's going to try and take my head off and I'm going to be the same. This is why I'm the champion - you don't duck, you don't dodge anybody. I'm probably the most competitive person in the world." Mundine defended the title on December 10 with a knockout in four rounds over Jose Alberto Clavero. Hamdan boxed current IBF middleweight champion Arthur Abraham in 2004 and middleweight contender Sam Soliman in 2003. In Hamdan's most recent bout he dropped a eight round decision to Mads Larsen in August. Mundine also stated he is chasing bouts with both Joe Calzaghe and Mikkel Kessler.
