Arce gets by Lookmahanak!

In a WBC super flyweight eliminator, former world champion and #1 rated Jorge Arce (49-4-1, 37 KOs) scored a majority decision over previously unbeaten #2 rated Devid Lookmahanak (18-1, 9 KOs) in front of 18,000+ rabid fight fans at the Plaza Monumental in Aguascalientes, Mexico. The mostly unknown southpaw Lookmahanak gave as good as he got and took the crowd out of the fight. Arce scored a flash knockdown in round seven, but Lookmahanak wasn't hurt. The fight continued to be close the rest of the way, but Arce seemed a little busier down the stretch to edge Lookmahanak by scores of 115-113, 115-114 and 114-114. With the win, Arce earned a rematch with Cristian Mijares, who now holds the WBC and WBA belts.


In a bout that took place after the main event, fan favorite Omar Chavez scored first round KO over Juan De Dios Castillo. There were three knockdowns by Omar, the last a hard left to the jaw. Time was 2:59. Also, in the final bout of the night, WBC female interim super bantam champ Jackie Nava (17-2-2, 9 KOs) won a unanimous ten round decision over Jasmine Rivas (19-6).
Featherweight Jorge Solis (34-1-2, 23 KOs) won an unpopular ten round uannimous decision over aggressor Miguel Roman (24-3, 16 KOs) by scores of 97-95, 99-93, 99-91.
Veteran lightweight Guadalupe Rosales (26-2, 17 KOs) upset previously unbeaten Humberto Gutierrez (22-1-1, 17 KOs), winning an eight round split decision by scores of 77-75, 77-76 on two cards. Gutierrez was up 78-77 on the third card.
In his toughest fight to date, unbeaten super featherweight Brandon Rios (16-0, 10 KOs) won a hard fought, ten round split decision over Ricardo Dominguez (23-2-2, 15 KOs). Scores were 98-95, 100-96, 95-94.
Super featherweight Michael Farenas scored a six round unanimous decision over Fermin De Los Santos. Farenas fired right to body for a knockdown in round two. De Los Santos lost his mouthpiece four times in this bout.
Super flyweight Francisco Arce (brother of Jorge Arce) scored a fourth round TKO over Oswaldo Rodriguez. Time was 1:30.
In a shock upset, unheralded super flyweight Jose Vargas (3-0) fired overhand right and knocked out Cesar Morales (19-7) in round three. Vargas did it with a devastating punch which sent Morales flying and onto his back 30 seconds into the round. Morales, also down in first round, is the brother of Manuel "Chango" Vargas.
Former WBC light flyweight world champion Brian Viloria (22-2-1, 13 KOs) scored a spectacular third round KO over Fred Herberto Valdez. A hard left hand body shot ended the bout at the 2:10 mark. Viloria looked sharp and was constantly on the attack.
Former Manny Pacquiao foe Hector Velazquez scored a third round TKO over Trinidad Rodriguez. Time was 2:52.
