Promoter Davide Buccioni staged a pro/am card on Wednesday night at the Acqua Acetosa Stadium in Rome, Italy, in front of a full-packed arena. In the main event, lightweight rising star and local hero, Simone 'Chico' Califano (11-1, 6 KOs) won the first title of his pro career. Califano produced a strong performance and outscored co-challenger Istvan Nagy (8-4-1, 5 KOs) of Hungary over ten entertaining and brutal rounds of boxing to took the vacant IBF-Youth title at 135 lbs with the final scoresheets being 96-94, 96-94 and 96-95. It was a give-and-take affair, both fighters gave more than expected and went toe-to-toe without any stop for ten hard-fought rounds. Showing great physical condition, Califano punctuated his win stepping up gears during the last two rounds and cruised to a deserved unanimous decision win.

On the undercard, light middleweight local boy, unbeaten Adriano Cardarello (6-0, 2 KOs) continued his impressive progress and outpointed veteran Hungarian battler Janos Petrovics (11-17, 7 KOs) over six rounds. The main event was televised by RaiSport Sat.
