Julio KOs Varela as promised!

Jr middlweight KO artist Joel Julio (34-1, 31 KOs) made good on his vow to knock out Jose Varela (23-4, 16 KOs) in a big way, scoring a brutal sixth round TKO on Wednesday night at the Seminole Hard Rock LIVE Arena in Hollywood, Florida. In a bout for the NABO 154lb belt, Julio dropped the six-foot+ Varela twice in round two, but Varela recovered well. Jullio floored Varela again in the third, and again Varela survived the round. Varela used his reach to keep Julio at bay in the fourth. Julio knocked down Varela again in the fifth but Varela was quickly back on his feet and finished the round. More heavy shots from Julio in the sixth, and Varela went down again at the end of the round but beat the count. The bout was then stopped by referee Telis Assimenios between rounds. Julio ranked #4 by the WBC and IBF, #2 by the WBO, and #6 by the WBA, is expected to fight for a world title in the near future.
Unbeaten jr middleweight Joe Greene (20-0, 14 KOs) successfully made the move from 160 to the 154lb division with a hard fought twelve round unanimous decision over Jose Miguel Torres (20-4, 18 KOs). It was a see-saw battle with both fighters having their moments. Torres, brother of former WBO 140lb champion Ricardo Torres, launched a fearsome attack in round four, but Greene showed his class and weathered the storm. Green dropped Torres with a barrage on the ropes in round five and Torres was later deducted a point for hitting behind the head by referee Tommy Kimmons in the same round. Torres didn't look good after a strong body attack by Greene in the eighth, and Greene jumped on him in the ninth and did more down the stretch to deservedly win by scores of 118-107, 118-107, 119-106. With the victory, Greene, rated #4 by the WBA and WBO at middleweight, claimed the NABA super welterweight title.
In an interesting clash of once-beaten light welterweights, Jesus Pabon (13-1, 8 KOs) dropped Bulmaro Solis (11-2, 11 KOs) in round three and went on to win a six-rounder by scores of 59-54, 58-55, 58-55.
Unbeaten welterweight prospect Kenny Galarza moved to 7-0 with 7 KOs) with a second round demolition of Devarise Crayton (4-5). Time was 2:57.
Unbeaten jr welterweight Jeremy Bryan (5-0, 2 KOs) cruised to a four round unanimous decision over journeyman Chris Hill (4-17-2, 2 KOs). Scores were 40-36, 40-35, 40-36.
Debuting lightweight Thomas Dulomer (1-0) won a close four round majority decision over David Rodriguez (1-3, 1 KO). Scores were 39-37, 39-36, 38-38.
In the last bout of the night, featherweight Kaito Ferguson (1-1-1, 1 KO), who had a loud contingent of fans on hand, battled to a four round draw with Vineash Rungea (2-11-3, 2 KOs). Scores were 39-37, 38-38, 38-38.
